Ingredients:
3/4 cup Butter, melted
1 Whole Egg
1 Egg Yolk
1/2 cup White Sugar
1 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
2 cups All Purpose Flour
3/4 Tsp Baking Soda
1/2 Tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips, divided
1/4 to 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
Preparation:
1) Start by adding the baking soda, salt, and flour. Stir the ingredients together with a fork.
2) Melt the butter and add it to the mixing bowl.
3) Add the sugar to the butter and stir it together with a whisk or a wooden spoon.
4) Add the brown sugar and stir it again. Be sure to remove any of the mix off the sides of the bowl.
5) Add one egg and one egg yolk. Mix it with everything in the bowl.
6) Add the vanilla extract and mix.
7) Add the one third of the flour to the mix and stir it. Repeat this twice more until all of the flour is mixed into the cookie batter. Make sure to get any flour off the sides of the bowl. Mix it with a spatula or a wooden spoon. There should be no flour visible.
8) Divide the dough into two parts. To one half, add half of the chocolate chips and mix it with a spatula so that the dough folds in over itself. This will be the chocolate chip cookie dough. To the other half, add the oats and the other half of the chocolate chips. Mix the dough the same way as before. This will be used to make the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
9) Refrigerate the two batches of dough for 2 hours. Let them rest for 5 minutes afterwards.
10) Preheat the oven and start to form little balls with the cookie dough. Press the cookies so that it can get into its proper shape.
11) Pop the cookies in the oven and bake them at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) for 12 minutes.
12) Let them rest for about 15 minutes. The cookies should be golden-brown in color and chewy in the middle.
